An island where you can easily explore within 2-3 days, depending on what kind of vacation you're looking for. Whether you're looking for a nice beach to get sunkissed or a beach to go for a swim, in Providenciales, you will find plenty of options to choose from.

I started researching things to do in the Yukon and instantly realized that it was the perfect destination for someone like me - I have a drive for adventure, I love nature and I love wildlife.

It was never part of mine. But how did I end up there?

It was a spontaneous decision. I woke up one day and decided that I want to go there. I had no idea why, but it just felt right.

Besides, it is only a short 2-hour flight from Vancouver.

I woke up that day and thought of the time I met a photographer in Finland who asked why I traveled all the way to Lapland to catch the Northern Lights when I could have gone to Yukon.

I knew only a little about Yukon, from the times I watched the Departures TV show with Andre, Justin, and Scott. It was one of the places I never thought I would visit since I had always prioritized other destinations.

Have you ever looked at the map and seen how big Banff National Park is? Zoom out a little more and you will discover the number of other places nearby (by that, I mean at least a 2-hour drive away, but it is still worth every minute spent driving!)

BEYOND BANFF: MY TOP PICKS FOR A PEACEFUL GETAWAY

I wish I knew sooner that there were far better things to do near Banff National Park, than in the park itself. The problem is that whenever I would do any sort of research, it would always lead me back to the same recommendations: Banff and Jasper. It is no surprise since these are the two most popular destinations in Alberta and a bucket list item for many (including myself, before I got the opportunity to visit).

I knew how much time I had and from what I heard from other people I spoke with before, I knew that going to Newfoundland for a weekend meant I had to get a car, as without that, it would be very hard to move around. Renting a car always calls for a road trip, and so the adventure began as soon as we landed!

A WEEKEND GETAWAY TO NEWFOUNDLAND CALLS FOR A ROAD TRIP

If I am being quite honest, landing in St John's, Newfoundland, was never something I had planned. Like the majority of my unplanned trips, I had no idea what to do when I got there. My research planning process started when I found myself at the gate, waiting to board.

When it comes to choosing my next destination, there are a few factors I like to keep in mind. The most important is always choosing a place to go based on who I am going to be traveling with. Other factors include personal interests, things to do, location, and more.

I especially love to explore small towns and less-known areas, as I find that there is a charm to these types of places, that can't be found in big cities. A few months ago, an opportunity came up in British Columbia and it meant that I could spend the next 6 months in another province. I could not pass it up, though it was a new adventure for me, since I have never been to this part of British Columbia - Vancouver Island.
